What is sound healing?
Sound healing is a well-being practice that goes by many names including sound meditation, sound baths, and sound therapy. Using crystal singing bowls and other musical instruments, vibrations are created that are deeply relaxing and can promote stress reduction, assist in meditation, and benefit sleep. Sound Healing can temporarily alter one’s brainwave states to bring them down into a deep, and restful calm within the body, similar to what one experiences in REM sleep or in meditation.

YOGA & SOUND BATH (75 min)
Participants are guided through a 45 min slow-flow yoga practice and then settle in for a 30 min sound bath. Open to all yoga levels.
chakra balancing (60 min)
Explore a 1 hour immersive experience using singing bowls to work our way up and down the chakras, leaving participants feeling energetically balanced.

Lisa is a 200-HR YTT Certified Yoga Instructor, a Certified Sound Healer, and an ICF-Certified BUSINESS Leadership coach. Lisa has been TEACHING + practicing yoga for over 20 years.

What are brainwave states?
The human brain contains billions of neurons, each of which has its own electrical firing patterns. Neuroscientists measure brain wave frequencies (in hertz). There are 5 widely recognized brain wave states as shown below.
During our day-to-day lives, we may move through several of these brain wave states, from a more active (and higher Hz) state to a more relaxed or restful (lower Hz) state. Sometimes, we may feel like our brain is ‘sped up’ and it can be difficult to slow our brains down and relax. This can negatively affect our mental and physical wellbeing. Sound healing helps the brain move from (Gamma or Beta) into (Alpha, Theta and sometimes Delta) without great effort from the participants by using binaural beats and aiding the brain into entering these lower Hz frequencies.
HOW DOES SOUND HEALING WORK?
Sound healing works BY activating the Parasympathetic Nervous System.
The Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) predominates in quiet, “rest and digest” conditions. The main purpose of the PNS is to conserve energy to be used later and to regulate bodily functions.
Sound Healing works with the system OPPOSITE to the sympathetic nervous system which drives the “fight or flight” response in stressful situations.

X THOSE WITH HEARING AIDS: Some sound frequencies can cause hearing aids to distort, creating additional external sounds such as feedback.
